17/11/11 : Edu Falaschi to produce the debut album of Silent Heaven

Almah and Angra singer and composer Edu Falaschi is to produce the debut full-length album of Brazilian melodic metallers Silent Heaven. This week Edu has joined the band in its home city Indaiatuba/SP to make the pre-production of new songs.

Silent Heaven is: Dan Figueiredo (Vocals), Giovanni Moizio (Guitars and Backing vocals), Vinybag Ferrari (Guitars), Clayton Lopes (Bass), Lucas Tagliari (Drums). The band was established in 2003 but the stable line-up was formed only in 2010. This year the musicians recorded and released their online single “Clouds Of Fate”. In the middle of November 2011 Silent Heaven started pre-production of its first CD together with producer Edu Falaschi. The new as yet untitled CD is planned to be released in Brazil in the first half of 2012. Edu Falaschi appeared at the producer’s desk in 1998 when his brother, Tito Falaschi, invited him to produce the first official album of Symbols. Soon he joined the band as a vocalist and produced two Symbols’ albums. Having got a lot of experience on the international level after joining Angra back in 2001, Falaschi returned to the production field with his own band Almah. The very first self-titled CD was totally produced by him (2006), the next albums, Fragile Equality (2008) and Motion (2011) – together with his bandmate, Felipe Andreoli.

Now he is considered to be one of the most respected metal producers in Brazil. Since 2009 Falaschi has been invited to produce works of other bands such as Age Of Artemis, Still Alive, Angels Holocaust and Silent Heaven.

Edu Falaschi: “I love producing! It’s totally different when you produce your songs or another band. Actually a producer needs to understand the spirit of the artist, incorporate it himself and reach for the best they can offer. Take it, produce it, increase it and record it in a good quality.”

At the moment, Edu Falaschi is doing the first part of Almah tour supporting the brand new album of the band, Motion released via AFM Records in October 2011.

Dear friends,

At last I would like to clarify some facts about my voice with all the sincerity, humility and integrity that I may have.

For over 20 years I have worked without a day off in the Heavy Metal style, and we all know how difficult and technically demanding it is. Joining Angra I had to fit a particularly high way of singing, which was totally out of my range, and of the vast majority of the singers! At the time I took the responsibility and faced all the pressure. But 10 years ago it was much easier due to the physical factor, excitement and age. I started to feel, year after year, gradually, the difficulties of singing something so high and out of my natural trait. I fought to the end! I did everything possible to continue to sing the songs, particularly the old ones, always in high pitches, because the melodic metal audience has ever “demanded” this of us singers. But unfortunately, today, older and more experienced, I assume that I am no longer able to sing so high. I am extremely tired and feeling the weight of all that in my voice, including the region that has always been the most comfortable for me! I’m a baritone singer who dominates the mediums and lows, with drive, singing with a more aggressive chest voice, as I did in Symbols and do in Almah. I have conquered many things and built much of my story with my own style.

Therefore, I made a decision, thinking only and exclusively about the health of my voice and integrity of my career, which I have built with so much struggle and dedication. After fulfilling all the promotional activities of Motion, scheduled until the end of the year, I will stop indefinitely to finally rest and be able to deal properly with my health. But I have to point out that from today on I’ll just sing whatever is in my natural range, be it in Angra or any other band, for my own good! I want to be who I really am, instead of being what people want me to be! In the meantime, I’ll continue with my activities as a producer and composer, which are things I love doing, and will not harm at all the progress of my recovery.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart to all the fans who always supported me and defend me unconditionally! I will always do my best writing and singing good music for you guys, with all my truth and emotion! This is the first step to a new time in my life! I have confidence in the future and will always be passionate about the greatest music ever, HEAVY METAL!

Past Monday Edu Falaschi, Felipe Andreoli and Marcelo Barbosa started a short promo tour presenting the upcoming album of the band Motion. The first part of the trip takes place in Tokyo, Japan where the musicians give series of the interviews and will play special acoustic sessions in Shinjuku Rock Inn Current (Tokyo) on September 14.

Brazilian-based metallers Almah proudly present a new song from the upcoming album Motion which will be released on October 14th via AFM Records. For the online debut of the new CD Almah created a video clip for the song “Trace of Trait” with its own story and professional production. The footage was done in Caxias do Sul, a city in the South of Brazil at the end of August under direction of producer and photographer Alex Milesi. The video is available on the official channel of the band in Youtube :



"We had an idea to prepare something special for our fans, that’s why we decided to release not simply some audio single but a full-fledged Video Clip! – commented Almah’s frontman Edu Falaschi: - We have chosen “Trace of Trait” for the first presentation of Motion because this song is very strong in many ways… and I’m totally sure that it represents well the language and identity of Almah! We worked with this director, Alex Milesi, for the first time. He is a very nice man and he had various good ideas for us. Everything during the shooting went on very well and we are very happy with the result."

Dear friends, we are happy to present a new part of Almah Studio Reports in Youtube. The new video gives an opportunity to watch Edu Falaschi recording the vocals for the upcoming album Motion. The singer presents parts of several new songs and tells about his work. The video is in Portuguese, but you can read English translation of the most interesting parts below. Enjoy!



English translation :

In the beginning of the video Edu Falaschi tells about recording of the vocals and back vocal parts at Norcal Studios in São Paulo as the final step of the new CD recordings before the mixing and mastering in Europe, and mentions that the album will be really great. Then, in the second and third parts Almah’s frontman presents special guests who help to make back vocals for this very important album in the history of Almah. There are two famous Brazilian musicians from renowned national metal acts and real friends of the band: Tiago Bianchi (Shaman) and Victor Cutrale (Furia Inc.).

The next part shows how Edu comes to Norcal late at night by car listening to the music: “to get some inspiration for the recording!!!” Entering the studio, the vocalist expains that this time he starts recording later than usual, but it’s even better. “In the morning it’s bad to sing, it’s getting better in the afternoon but I prefer to record at night, it’s the best time!”

Doing some warm-up, Edu comments that the voice is a part of the whole body and it’s necessary to take care about it. Staying in the kitchen and the “chill-out” room of the studio the musician marks that it’s almost empty in comparison with the recordings of other instruments such as drums, guitars, bass when many people are hanging around. Having finished their work, all the band’s crew are away and during the vocal sessions Edu stays alone, just with Brendan (Duffey, sound engeneer) or Adriano (Daga, anther engeneer) and it can seem a bit sad sometimes…

Meanwhile, Edu remembers how he recorded the vocals for Angra’s album Temple Of Shadows in Germany. And it was funny, because Edu stayed almost alone there in a house in the countryside and even saw a cow several times (the singer shows that it sounded as a cow, not as a bull :))…

At the end of the report Edu reveals some details of his singing for the 3rd Almah’s album and mentioned such techniques as screaming, roaring, his tipical vibrato “Falaschiano” and using of many things from Symbols time. Also, the musician notices that always when he works at his CDs the lyrics are ready very close to the moment when the recording starts that’s why it never works to practice beforehand and all is very honest.

The single will represent the new face and direction of Almah. After successful power metal masterpiece “Fragile Equality” released in 2008, Almah returns with the 3rd studio effort “Motion” as an experienced matured band with many new ideas and without any fear to be up-to-date and to move forward towards its own language and identity.

- Almah, promotional tour in Europe and Japan : Brazilian musicians from the band Almah, Edu Falaschi (vocals), Felipe Andreoli (bass) and Marcelo Barbosa (guitar), will leave on September 10 for a promotional tour in Japan and Europe in support of their latest work, the album "Motion".
The trip of the artists will begin in Japan, and then will passing through France and Germany, where they will be featured in several broadcastings on TV and radios, magazines, webzines, in add to some acoustic performences closed to selected fans and media specialists.
Victor JVC and AFM Records, labels responsible for launching Motion in Japanese and European markets, are in charge of this whole promotrip organization, which will end on September 19.

- Edu Falaschi taks part in new anti-drugs campaing by Rock In Rio : Brazilian metal singer, composer, producer and arranger Edu Falaschi (Angra, Almah) who is really famous by his active social position, participated in a new anti-drug campaign started by the organizers of the upcoming Rock In Rio festival. Edu was invited to record a song “I Go Without Any Drugs” together with a few stars of Brazilian popular music (MPB). The reportage about the video recording was broadcast yesterday by the biggest Brazilian TV, Rede Globo in the recent program “Jornal Nacional”.
Edu Falaschi became the only metal singer invited to take part in this campaign together with such outstanding names of Brazilian popular music as Milton Nascimento, Claudia Leitte, Rogério Flausino (Jota Quest), Sandra de Sá, Emicida, Toni Garrido (Cidade Negra), Ivo Meirelles, Rodrigo Santo (Barão Vermelho), Herbet Vianna (Paralamas do Sucesso), Di Ferrero (NX Zero). Edu Falaschi will perform with Angra at the upcoming Rock In Rio, one of the biggest and most important musical festivals not only in Brazil but in the whole world. The band will play on Sunset stage on 25th of September with a special guest, Finnish Metal Queen Tarja Turunen. 28/08/11 : Edu Falaschi comments new Almah’s clip shooting

Edu Falaschi talks about the shooting of Almah’s video clip in Caxias Do Sul (Brazil) on August 26 and 27 under the direction of Alex Milesi (check out the video HERE) :

"I had just finished my part of the recording for the new clip, it was really cool, despite of being in a rush the last few days.

Everything is going on very well, the producer does his best, he is a very nice man and has various good ideas.

We are very happy with the result, this clip will be very cool. I hope you will watch it many times to give us many views in Youtube! "

21/08/11 : Edu Falaschi / Almah, promotional tour in Europe and Japan in September

Brazilian musicians from the band Almah, Edu Falaschi (vocals), Felipe Andreoli (bass) and Marcelo Barbosa (guitar), will leave on September 10 for a promotional tour in Japan and Europe in support of their latest work, the album "Motion".

The trip of the artists will begin in Japan, and then will passing through France and Germany, where they will be featured in several broadcastings on TV and radios, magazines, webzines, in add to some acoustic performences closed to selected fans and media specialists.

Victor JVC and AFM Records, labels responsible for launching Motion in Japanese and European markets, are in charge of this whole promotrip organization, which will end on September 19.

"New Almah’s album "Motion" will be launched first in Brazil through Laser Company on September 16, and then will be avalaible in Europe on October 14 and in Japan on October 19 via AFM Records and Victor JVC.

In parallel, the band begins to schedule dates for his upcoming Motion Tour.

18/08/11 : Almah announces release dates for the new album

Brazilian-based metallers Almah have announced that their new album Motion will be released on October 14th via AFM Records. The band worked on the new CD in São Paulo, Brazil at Norcal Studios in May-June 2011. The material was mixed and mastered at Split Second Sound Studios (Amsterdam, Netherlands) by Jochem Jacobs (Textures) in July. A brand new digital single will be available for online streaming in the beginning of September.

The release dates of Motion in other countries are the following :

- September 16th (Brazil / Laser Company),
- October 14th (Latin America / Icarus Records),
- October 19th (Japan / Victor JVC).

“I’m very excited to present our new work soon! – commented Edu Falaschi, Almah’s singer - We are absolutely dedicated, each bandmember contributed to the basic parts, arrangements and songwriting. I’m really proud that this album will show the real language and personality of Almah! Motion is heavy, modern and up-to-date (maybe, the heaviest stuff I’ve ever recorded in my life). It’s powerful! Full of good energy! The instrumental parts are very solid and heavy. The vocal lines present my natural range and style, heavy and aggressive. It’s a kind of album to bang your head without non-stop! And I have a feeling that in the end it will be the best CD in my whole discography. At least, the one I like the most…”

Almah is : Edu Falaschi – vocals, Felipe Andreoli – bass, Marcelo Barbosa – guitars, Paulo Schroeber – guitars, Marcelo Moreira – drums. The band was established by Angra’s singer Edu Falaschi in 2006 and released two albums: “Almah” (2007) and “Fragile Equality” (2008).

Brazilian metallers Almah will release their new album Motion via AFM Records this fall (the date will be announced soon).   - Edu Falaschi in the studio with Almah :Almah ends the recordings of his third studio album and has revealed the cover and the title : "Motion"!
According to Edu Falaschi : “The cover has been created by myself with my own iPhone. I took a picture in Paris and used some applications to create that motion effect. Then Felipe used my picture and re-created this artwork in high resolution using Photoshop and completed it with new elements. This time we wanted something modern and direct to represent our music and we are totally sure that we got the result we really wanted since the very beginning. This CD will show the real Almah’s language and personality! [...] I Have A Feeling That In The End It Will Be The Best Album In My Whole Discography".
